Hello and welcome to my webpage.
I am a member of the iMPACT lab, a research laboratory that focuses on middleware and applications for mobile networks, especially for mobile ad hoc networks and wireless sensor networks. The research projects in the lab are funded mostly by NSF, which has funded part of my research material in my PhD Dissertation. Until recently, I had assumed the duties of systems and network administrator of the lab. For more professional information about myself, you can read my short resume or my full resume. I grew up in Vrysaki, a small village of central Makedonia, Greece. Vrysaki, now part of the municipality of Alexandria, in the prefecture of Imathia, has been my home for 18 years. My name in Greek is "Γεωργιος"; I was named after my grandfathers. You can read more information about my name here. My family has five members. My parents, Konstantinos and Evgenia—they still live happily together after a 35-year marriage. I also have two lovely twin sisters who try to make big in the business of agriculture.
Educational Background
I studied in the department of Computer Engineering and Informatics
at the University of Patras, Greece,
where I received my diploma degree (a five-year bachelor program in engineering) in July 1997. I co-authored
my diploma thesis, "An ATM Network Simulator", with
Spyros Voulgaris. The thesis advisor was
Dr Paul Spirakis.
I received my MS degree in Computer Science (May 2000)
at Colorado State University, where I worked
as a Systems Administrator for the department of Computer Science under the supervision of
Wayne Trzyna. My MS thesis advisors
were Dr Sandeep K. S. Gupta and
Dr Pradip K. Srimani.
I received my PhD in
Computer Science at
Arizona State University. My
academic advisor was Dr. Sandeep K. S. Gupta.
Research Interests
My research interests include optimization problems in communication networks,
(location management, routing etc), design and competitive analysis of online algorithms,
combinatorial analysis of problems and algorithms, protocol design and performance analysis.
