  • Submit a presentation draft to Dr Gupta
  • Submit a thesis draft to Dr. Gupta. (See example Proposal)
  • Submit a presentation draft to Dr Gupta

  • Finalize oral exam date with committee
  • With acknowledgement from Dr. Gupta, finalize oral exam date with the committee

  • Get feedback from Dr. Gupta.

  • Lab Presentation - first attempt

  • Submit proposal document to committee
  • Request comprehensive exam questions from committee
  • Finalize Program of Study with Graduate College
  • Submit thesis to committee

  • Submit Defense Announcement (HOWTO)  to the Computer Science department.

  • Receive comprehensive exam questions from committee
  • 1st mock defense

  • Prepare presentation of answers for Oral Exam

D-Day
  • Comprehensive Oral Exam
  • Proposal Defense

Post-defense duties


  • Make changes to the dissertation
  • Update the website with the dissertation file, presentation file and BibTex entry
  • Update the personnel page (move yourself to alumni)
  • Cleanup, organize and document your research data (simulation files etc)
  • Update the aliases and sudoers
  • Settle the working/unfinished papers.
  • Present this checklist to get the final signature
